BlackArch Linux 2019.06.01 Released, Which included More Than 150 New Tools


The BlackArch Linux Community has released the new version of BlackArch Linux 2019.06.01 on yesterday (24th May, 2019).

This new release brings the brand new Linux kernel 5.1.4.

Linux Kernel 5.1 includes io_uring, an high-performance interface for asynchronous I/O. It provides a scalable way to watch changes on large file systems.

It added improvements in fanotify to provides a scalable way of watching changes on large file systems. Also, persistent memory can be used now as hot-plugabble RAM.

They have added more than 150 new tools in this release, it helps for penetration testers in many ways.

There are numerous updates added for vim plugins, notable, a new jedi-vim’ plugin added, it provide auto-completion library to Vim editor.

Did major housekeeping and tweaks in this release, which cleaned up some of the unused apps.

What Is BlackArch Linux?

BlackArch is a penetration testing distribution based in Arch Linux that provides a large amount of cyber security tools.

This distro created specially for penetration testers and security researchers.

BlackArch Linux repository currently contains more than 2100 tools.

Package Updates:

  • updated blackarch-installer to v1.1.1
  • updated Xresources/Xdefaults + added support for rxvt-unicode
  • updated all blackarch tools and packages including config files
  • updated all system packages
  • updated all window manager menus (awesome, fluxbox, openbox)

Runtime Checks:

QA team has performed runtime checks against all the packages prior the ISO build of BlackArch Linux 2019.06.01.

Runtime checks, may be give a confidence to the team that no issues will be reported back on this release.
